OCI while on tourist visa

Hi,
If I apply for OCI for my 7 month old baby while she is on tourist visa to India, will the 180 day limit per visit still apply while we wait for OCI? My daughter's 180day limit expires on April 29. However, my job situation is a bit unstable and I would like to bring my family over to the UK once it stabilises. As the OCI may take even more than 8 weeks, what are my options?
