Return of BRP

Hi

My husband has got his citizenship letter, I presume he has to send his BRP back to home office within 5 days of receiving his British Passport. However as I applied for my FLRM and his Pakistani passport and BRP is already with Home office. Do I need to notify home office that they have already got his BRP or there is any other way to sort this out.
