non-EU mother & step-father of EU citizens 2004/38 Directive

Post by platpays » Thu Mar 01, 2018 7:38 am

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for the information about positive or negative examples of family reunification with third country parents and other family members.
I've seen that there were attempts but never found the feedback.

My current situation: I'm EU citizen working in Belgium.
My parents: mum & step-dad came here with touristic visa. We applied for family reunification with dependant ascendant(my mum)
and other dependant family member (my step-dad). Have no idea, why step-parents are "other family members" and not "ascendants".
We got the temporary permission to stay while the belgian authorities make a decision about our case.
They're joint to my health insurance as well.

But we were told that the case of my step-dad is complicated as he's not a direct relative
So now i'm trying to anticipate what to do in the case of refuse.
What are most common reasons of refuse?
Are there any succeded persons to bring their parents/step-parents?

Any information would be appreciated

Anyone knows what's up with the family of Bobthemoggie, the topic starter:

I've seen that I can't send private messages and asking for the update in previous topics seems not be appreciated :?:
Maybe someone, who has private messages enabled, could ask him for update?
