Number of days allowed per year outside of the UK for citizenship

Post by Epsilonn » Thu Mar 01, 2018 1:57 pm

Hi all, I have been reading online and there is something I cannot put together.
My name is Nick, I am a Romanian citizen, I have been working and living in the UK for almost 4 years.

I only left the UK for a total of 2 weeks in all this time.

I might need to leave this year for almost 4 months in Romania and I need to know if this will reset the 5 years clock towards applying for settled status.

How much can I be out of the UK in one year to be eligible for settled status to get to apply for citizenship? I read about 90 days, 180 days... it is confusing. I know there is a total of 450 days allowed in the first 5 years with 90 days in the last year... but how are those 450 days allowed to be spent? What is the limit per year? The explanations online leave room for interpretations.

Please help me as I need to leave the UK for this time but I also need the settled status.

Thank you,
Nick

No need to open a new topic with the same question. Please continue in your original thread where you are already being given advice.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
