Hello,
I am hoping that someone on here can offer up any suggestions on my current situation. Please allow me to explain:
I am a US passport holder. I have lived in the UK since I was 7yrs (I'm nearly 40yrs old). Recently I was kicked off ESA and put onto JSA. I got offered a job but due to my passport that contains my visa being expired they refused to employ me until I got a valid one with stamp inside.
I got my valid passport but the stamp was not there. I contacted both US Embassy and Home Office. Was told to apply for No Time Limit Biometric Residence Permit. As that was the only way to transfer my visa.
I applied and it was rejected. Reason: insufficient documentation to prove I have lived in the UK for 31yrs (now 32yrs). I did everything they aaked of me and yet no dice.
Yesterday 2nd March 2018 I was told by my advisor at the Jobcentre that due to the fact I cannot prove Right to work, that my JSA will be suspended as no employer will employ me without it.
I am stuck! I have done everything I could over the past year to try and fix this but no one seems to have a clue about such a situation.
So I am now wondering, if my visa allows me to reside in the UK for good and thus allows me to claim benefits...what benefit could I get aside from JSA to make sure I am able to keep living??
Many thanks for your time.
