student spouse Visa question

Hi,

I need some advice on whether this is possible or not. Can a spouse of a fulltime student visa transfer to her own working visa? She has been working full time in Australia for the last year. So basically she doesn't want to be tied to her husbands visa anymore. Would she need to go offshore to apply?
