Previously approved IELTS General Training

Hi,

Im applying for ILR later this year on the 5 year route Spouse, can I use the General Training IELTS that Ive used and had approved previously during this visa journey? Its B1 level, but was taken in 2012.

The current approved tests dont list the general training anymore but an IELTS UKVI? Appendix O seems to suggest that as long as its an IELTS B1 level it will still be fine. So a bit confused if I need to retake this specific IELTS UKVI version?

The IELTS UKVI seems to have been introduce during the 5 year qualifying route I been on.

Previously accepted qualifications will only be accepted if they are still on the list of approved exams. You’ll need to take a B1 SELT exam.

It is acceptable if the test centre is still on ukvi list, I confirmed this with HO help centre & tier 1 Entrepreneur guidance states that both Ielts academic and general are acceptable.

It’s not the test centre, the exam itself has to be on approved list. Following is copied from gov.uk

You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if both of the following are true:

it’s on the current list of recognised tests
it was accepted for another UK immigration application, eg when you got permission to enter

Still confused.... Appendix O seems to suggest IETLS provider is ok. Doesnt mention the IELTS UKVI specifically. My understanding is its just a title change and is still the same Qs and grading as the General training one.

When I renewed in 2016 technically my test was not on the list either, as I didnt have the SELT number on my version. But was still ok.

Would seem odd that my IELTS is suddenly not good enough after twice being accepted, but would like to be 100% sure. The official test list just leaves me with some nagging doubt even with Appendix O.

I think it is better to call ukvi help centre they will clear your confusion.

I tried. Not very helpfull. And given an unclear answer. Seems pot luck when I call them on getting anything useful.

I don't know which category you are applying but I'm sure English language requirement is same for settlement. If you read tier 1 Entrepreneur current guidance page 42 which states:
Knowledge of Life and Language - settlement When you apply for settlement you are required to show that you have knowledge of life and language in the United Kingdom before you can be granted (unless you fall under an exemption). You can demonstrate this by passing both the Life in the UK Test and holding an English speaking and listening qualification at level B1 or above (please note: both Academic and General training are acceptable).
