Hi everyone,
I have read several posts on this forum and found quite useful information. However I found the situation of myself probably the most complicated. I'm working in a university but I hold the dependant visa of my wife, who has a Tier 2 visa which expires in 2019. I use to have my own Tier 2 visa but given the funding stream of my job I have to renew it every 3 - 6 months, which is too frequent so I decided to switch it to Tier 2 dependant visa (which has much further end date). And I will be eligible to apply 10 years ILR this July.
Everything seems to be really good until yesterday (6 March), my wife's employer told her that their sponsorship license will end on 9 March and she will be dismissed on the same day. We don't know whether the license has been revoked by HO or the employer doesn't want to renew it, the employer doesn't seem to want her to know. So once the HO issues the curtailment letter to her, we both will have 60 days of valid visa and I'm not even sure whether I can legally continue my job in these 60 days. My best bed is probably getting a CoS of myself from the university and switching my wife to dependant visa, but I will have to leave the UK to apply my Tier 2 visa (switch from Tier 2 dependant to Tier 2 main). I'm not even sure whether the university can get me the CoS in time and nevertheless my wife will lose her job because of such a short notice.
I'm just wondering are there any visa options for me to cover at least until July so I can submit my 10 years ILR application? We have though about short term study visa or even tourist visa, but not quite sure whether these can contribute to the 10 years. Any ideas will be helpful, many thanks!
