Validity Duration of CoS and Job Start Date

Post by mashayekh_hosein » Tue Mar 13, 2018 9:06 am

All,

I have just received a job offer after an interview. The HR has requested documents to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS). However, my start date will be Monday 16/July/2018.

I have heard that CoS is valid only for 3 months. I plan to apply for my visa early May. It's a change of Tier-2 employer.

Given that my start date is 4 months from now, can the HR issue a CoS now, or the CoS can only be issued 3 months before the start date?

Many Thanks for your Help.

23.7 Once you have assigned a CoS, it can be used by the migrant you have
assigned it to in support of their application at any time during the 3 month
period from the date it was assigned. During this period a migrant cannot be
assigned another CoS by any other sponsor. If the migrant does not use the
CoS within this 3 month period to make an application, it will expire and will
show as ‘expired’ in your SMS account. Please note, that a migrant cannot
apply for Tier 2 or Tier 5 leave more than 3 months in advance of the start date
stated on their CoS.
