can i work as agency nurse if i have a tier 2 visa?

Post by MommyOpposum » Thu Mar 15, 2018 7:37 pm

good day all.

im working as a staff nurse for my hospital for 3 years. i also do extra shifts outside my normal working hours in my own hospital(called bank shifts), which give extra money.

Recently, i wanted to try to work for other hospitals just to find out their systems and management structures. so i came across this agency nursing where an agency would book a shift for you and send you to other hospitals even outside london.

what i want to know is if this would be legal? like im only gonna do it on my annual leave and days off. because i have overheard that the ho considers the bank shifts as a second job.

thank you very much.

You cannot do it on your annual leave because that is still your working hours with your sponsoring employer, you are just not physically in the hospital.

Not sure how your contract defines normal working hours because nurses work in the day and at night don't you.

The normal working hours, for me, are 9 - 5, Monday to Friday. Therefore I could do 20 hours supplementary with another employer outside 9 -5, Monday to Friday, regardless if you are on annual leave or not. This is what my HR advised me.
