EEA2 Permit Enquiries- can work with EEA FP?

Hi all,
Need your kind advice on the following:
Info: have received my EEA Family Permit and now preparing for EEA1/2 for in the UK.

1. As a spouse of a EEA national, am I allowed to work immediately upon my arrival in the UK without applying for the EEA2 yet? How can I convince the employer that the EEA FP allow me to work if I can work at all?
I read in this forum that once EEA2 application is submitted, I will receive a letter saying I can work but technically I can already work first w/o applying for EEA2 yet because I enjoy the EU freedom to work and travel.. is that correct?

2. We applied for family permit as self sufficient, when I apply the as self sufficient for my EEA2 permit and can I use the same doc I used previously?

3. Can I apply for EEA2 without my husband applying for EEA1 Permit?

You can try by showing him the relevant law, in this case the Immigration Rules 2006 (EEA). If you have a more knowledgeable employer (such as a university or an international company), they probably already know it. With a small employer you may have difficulties. There is also a phone line at the Home Office for employers to contact about the European law, maybe that would help.

Yes, you already have the right to work as soon as the requirements are fulfilled.

That depends on how much funds you have. For the EEA Family Permit, you need to demonstrate sufficient funds for 3 or 6 months. The Residence Card is valid longer, so the bar may be higher.

3. Can I apply for EEA2 without my husband applying for EEA1 Permit?

Yes, you can, but applying together seems to speed up the processing a bit in most cases.

in case of i managed to get a job, then would the application still be self sufficient?

don't think i see anywhere on the form that allow me to apply as a worker...

You can, if you have enough money, but the better category is "employed". It should be the first one on the list.

Hi all
quick update:

arrived on 18th may with EEA FP with no problem at heathrow. the only question asked was what is our relationship.

went for job interview on 19th. got it right away-starting next month. but employer emailed back (after calling the HO to check) to say he checked with HO and he was told I need to apply for work permit.

Clarify to employer that is incorrect info and send the relevant info from ukvisas.gov.uk site and an email from IND confirming that i can work and live with my EEA FP.

In the midst of looking for a proper place to stay. hopefully I can apply for my eea2 once i hv 3 months pay slips. hrmm or can i apply now with the employment letter? and another thing i dont have any bills or bank statement ties me to this house we are living now..

should we wait and apply later??

Appreciate any advice!

You can apply now anyway. Your right to receive a Residence Card stems only from your marriage to the EEA Citizen, it is not in anyway connected to your job or accomodation.

oh.. i thought for the eea2 application, i need to proof that i have income(payslip) and saving in bank (bank statement), no?
We are currently staying with friend till we get our own place. will this affect the application?

No. The Residence Card only confirms your rights, it does not grant them.
