Maternity Allowance

Post by tundertitok » Thu Mar 22, 2018 2:58 pm

Good afternoon,

I am an EU citizen married to a non EU citizen and we are expecting our first child soon. I am not allowed to get Statutory Maternity Leave because I have not been working for my employer for 26 weeks, but I can get Maternity allowance because I worked before for other companies. would it affect my application for PR in the future because I have read in several places that Maternity allowance is paid by the Job Center and it is a sort of benefit, which leaves me to think that it would be classed as a public funds?

thank you.

Maternity Allowance is not within the definition of Public Funds, so no harm in claiming that.
