Hello All,

Hoping for some advice. I am a New Zealand born male that came to the UK in 1999 on an ancestry visa that allowed me a 4 year working permit that was renewable. However, I joined the RAF in 2003 and obtained a stamp in my passport that states...

"the holder is exempt under section 8(4) of the immigration act 1971. He is not subject to any condition or limitation on the period of permitted stay in the UK..."

When i travel through UK customs i show them this stamp and my military ID and that seems to do the trick... I will not be in the military forever and wish to remain so was wondering what this stamp means going forward?? Can i remain in the UK indefinitely? Or, do I need to apply for British citizenship? If i do need to apply for Citizenship then are there any concessions or fast track options for serving military?
