Need help regarding sponsor visa.

Post by Sigma26 » Sat Apr 07, 2018 2:31 pm

Hello.
I am an EU citizen living in UK and i've been here for almost 6 years now. I have had a stable good paying job for the entirety of my stay so there's no money issues.
I'm trying to sponsor my GF who i've known for 6+ years now and I want her to move in with me to UK and get married and live together.
My question is: Can I sponsor someone when i'm not a UK citizen? I have a National Insurance Number and that's about it. Do I need to apply for citizenship or a indefinite leave to be able to do that?

Any answers or links to some guides would be appreciated, thank you!

Unless you have been living together in a 'durable' relationship 'akin to marriage' for a minimum of 2 years with the documented evidence to support this, you will have to marry before your girlfriend qualifies for an EEA permit to live with you in the UK. A girlfriend doesn't qualify for an EEA Extended Family permit.

Ok well let's say we got married.
Do I qualify to be a sponsor for her without being a UK citizen?

Yes if the application for a Family Permit (EEA FP) is submitted under the EEA Regulations.
