Unmarried partner PR takes longer than married PR?

Post by Noneabout » Mon Apr 09, 2018 5:50 pm

Hello,

I am an unmarried partner of an Irish National. I applied for PR on 19 Jan after 5 years with an RC. My solicitor said that it takes longer for unmarried partners’ applications to be processed than married or direct family members.

I know there is a timeline posted on here, but not everyone distinguishes between married and unmarried/ direct and indirect family members.

Can anyone confirm if it’s true that this takes longer for indirect family members?

Also, my solicitor said that I cannot contact the home office for an update as it’s EEA rules. Is that true as well?

Many thanks for your help!
