Schengen Visa - Portugal + Schengen States 150 days

Hello,

I'm in a complicated situation. Will appreciate if an expert could help out with this. I am doing Masters in Football Business from Geneva, Switzerland. I am from India and the first 6 months were online classes which happened in India. The next part of the course is an Internship which I have in Portugal (75 days) and then I have to travel to Switzerland for the rest of the course (75 days) from where I will travel to various Schengen countries for study purposes.

Now Because, my travel Itinerary for a particular country is less than 90 days. I am only applicable for Short term visa, I have applied for the same but provided all the documents for the 150 day period (Long term), but the form submitted was a short term one - Business Visa - Portugal.

I was told that the embassy can take exceptions according to the case and I'm hoping I will get a long term schengen visa for the full trip. However, Incase I get a 90 day visa, My question is because my Internship and studies in Switzerland will not have any gap, It's would be very unfortunate for me to travel back to India and apply for the visa again.
1) Instead, can I apply from Portugal (Switzerland Embassy) for an extension or a new short term visa side by side ?
2) After the internship I will have 15 days left on my visa - Can I apply in Switzerland? Or is it necessary for me to come back to India and re-apply? Also, some in some visa's one can only travel for 3 months in a 6 months period, will that apply to me as well in my situation?

3) My last question is Once i get the visa from Portugal embassy while I'm in India, If I get a short term visa, Can I apply for another one immediately from Switzerland embassy even before travelling to portugal?

I request you to please read the above situation and provide the best option for me as its a time sensitive situation for me and I want to be ready for anything I can do to make sure my studies are affected.
