UK Notary and Apostilled

I may need to have my birth certificate, Police Certificate (Criminal Check) and Marriage Certificate properly notarised by an UK Notary Public as well as apostilled.

What is this and what is the process for getting the requirement done?

I'm sure I put this post in the "Other Countries" section. The reason being it is emmigration not immigration to UK.
