Certified Passport from HO for NON-EU Spouse

Hi ,

I have been looking in the forum trying to find a solution or something reading to my problem but came up with no luck.

I have been living with my non-EU wife for 1 year and half, and we have decided to make an application for her Residency Card ,

We have gathered as much as we can proof of relationship, like photos living together, receipt from trips in Uk, gifts , post cards from families and friends. , my bank statements , poof of employment , income , etc,
Including in her name, some bank statements of her Online Banking , British Gas bills, Landline phone bills (SKY) and some other bills which I can’t remember now.

Application Sent & Delivered on : 05 January 2018
Email confirmation From HO : 15 January 2018 (with reference nr )
Biometric enrollment : 18 January 2018
COA : 24 January 2018


Because I think that based on the poof of relationship(plus you need 2 years at least) we might get a negative decision , we have decided to get married. The reason why we want to do that is because we know that we will be asked for a interview and I are happy to do that.

I went to Registration office , with my Passport , Poof of Address ,and the letter COA from HO , and her national ID but they didn’t accept us to give notice for marriage. They said we can’t accept non-EU national card identity. I told them that her passport is with HO and here is the COA as a poof including a reference number but still they told us that we need a copy of her passport certified from HO only.

My solicitor has requested for a certified copy of her passport and my passport.
My passport came in 1 week, but her certified copy of her passport not yet.

Solicitor told me that in order to get a certified copy of her passport we have to write to a different department which is not the same as getting my passport back.
And this department from HO accept only writing request by post , NO email NO phone number.
Solicitor told me that it can get 2-3 weeks or maybe even 1 month to get a certified copy which is fine by me but since his first request its been more than 2 months and half and still nothing.
He wrote them 22 January , then he did again on March 2018 but yet nothing arrived.

How we should proceed , who to contact in order to get a certified copy of her passport ?

Is she your wife (from the viewpoint of British law) or your unmarried partner? It is not very clear from the post above.

Yes ,its my unmarried partner, that's why i need a certificate of her Passport so we can give notice to Registration office and getting married. Thank you
