Enquiry on 6 Months Visit Visa

Post by KayArian07 » Tue Apr 17, 2018 1:13 am

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the forum so would really appreciate all the help I can get.

My parents applied for a 6 month visit visa which UKBA successfully granted them to come and visit me here in UK. The visa allows them to stay in the country for 180 days from the day they enter UK however the validity of the visa finishes on 22nd June 2018.

We have just found out that there’s a wedding planned for one of our closest relatives on 28th June and they are really interested in attending that. My question is if they enter in Mid March, Does their visa allow them to stay for 180 days from the day they enter (in this case if they enter in mid May then 180 days finishes in Mid November) or this is not possible as the validity to enter uk expires on 22nd June. Really confused.

Can someone please help! I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Errr, no. Visit visas are typically valid for six months from the date of grant, not the date of entry to the UK.

Crucial question is, what period of time did you/they state on the visit visa application form/tell the Immigration Officer at the airport? If they exceed that period, even if they are still within the validity of the visit visa, they may have problems getting a visit visa in the future.
