Hi all,
I am a male. I have a British passport as I was born in the UK and lived there for the first nine years of my life.
I now have a daughter born in 1991 who wants a British passport. However, although I lived with my daughter's mum for 14 years, we never got married.
I am the father registered on her birth certificate. I have always been a very active father.
My sister, who is also a British citizen for the same reason, successfully applied for British passports for her two sons. They were from two differernt relationships. She has never been married.
Like my sister, I have been back to the UK a few times for brief periods, but mostly we have lived in Australia. No employment, relatives or assets in the UK.
Because her sons were both born after 1st Jan 1983, she didn't need to show she was married.
But for my kids to be eligible they need to have been born after 1 July 2006.
My question is - does this simply mean my kids are not eligible, or is it still worthwhile to apply ?
I don't feel like throwing money to either the British Embassy or immigration lawyers if there is no hope.
Many thanks, Geoff
