Settlement visa holder traveling on soon-to-expire passport

Hello,
I have a settlement visa good until 2020. My passport will expire in December 2018, and I need to travel from the UK to the US for one week in the beginning of June 2018 - 6 months and some change from when the passport will expire. Has anyone with a visa left the UK and returned when their passport would expire before their visa?
