Fresh UK visitor visa whilst one active

Hello members

I have a query regarding UK visitor visa. I live in the UK on ICT visa and want to get my Dad to the UK on visitor visa. He had travelled to UK on visitor visa before (3 times in the last 10 years).

My Dad applied for a visitor visa in Jan and got the visa for 6 month valid till mid Jul. My plans was to bring him to UK in Feb but due to his health conditions it did not go as per our plan. Now he has fully recovered from illness and ready to travel but not much days left in the visa (left with less than 3 months now)

As he has not travelled on the current visitor visa, can he apply for a fresh visitor visa request to get a fresh 6 months travel window? Is this allowed? Any thoughts?

On the original application, what did he state as to the duration of his planned stay in the UK? How long does he actually plan to stay? How long has he stayed in the past?

Thanks for you response. In the original appln he stated as 3 months but the plan was to stay for 5-6 months.

Past trips - 1st time:5 months 2nd time:4 months 3rd time(recent):2 months.

Be aware that recent reports on these forums have suggested that if a visitor overstays the period stated on the application form, even if less than six months, they get future visit visas refused for "deception".

Also, make sure the visits are not too frequent. Visitors are not meant to reside in the UK via frequent and successive visits.

Thanks for this. Say if he travels to UK with the current visa which is expiring in July and after returning back can he apply for a fresh visitor visa or does he need to wait for any cool off period?

The applicant is expected to stay in his country of residence longer than he has been in the UK.

Also, the ECO would look askance at an application too soon after a visit. As mentioned above, the purpose of a visit visa should not be to reside in the UK in the guise of frequent and successive visits.

If he has already been to the UK recently and will visit again soon (within the current visit visa period), I would suggest a break of a year or two before the next visit.
