Italy+marraige+divorce+leagul options

Hi guys hope all of you are fine
My question is What will be the option with a person who merry an italian and after 3 years of leagul residency in italy there is a divorce between non EU spouse & italian, can he get the ROR
What leagul options the person have then
Can he avail the PR after 5 years ?
And can then he apply the citizenship independently
Hope to have answers
