Hi Everyone,
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and offer advice, I am close to applying for my wife to come and live in the UK with me and I just want to confirm I am correct or I have misread something. These are my circumstances:
Last year my mother got cancer and became progressively worse, I decided to leave work in Aug 2017 to focus on her. In a bid try and get married whilst she was here I applied for permission to marry my partner who is from Colombia staying in the UK doing her post graduate at university. Wedding was bitter sweet as mum did not make it but we decided to continue and get married anyway as it was booked (civil wedding). From Aug 2017 until May 8th I will have been unemployed.
-Wife is from Colombia, I have known her for 10 years+, relationship is not hard to prove.
-Wife is an engineer in Colombia, (not sure if this makes a difference)
-I earned an average of 48K from work over the last 3 years.
-In the last 12 months I have earned around 40K, last check was in December 2017 from my work.
-I can prove earnings via digital copies of payslips and P60's over 3 years and a letter my old HR. But not original.
-I have a place to live in at the moment
-The last 3 months whilst looking for work I was on benefits, universal credit. All my savings were used whilst mum was sick.
-I am now going to start working after many months of searching on the 8th of May with a salary of £43K basic +commission (I work in sales, not self employed)
So in summary, I believe I meet the requirements based on:
-being able to prove relationship
-Having somewhere to live
-In the last 12 months I earned more than £19K
-I have work now which is in excess of £19K
What I am worried about.
-employment gap of 8 months.
-being forced to take benefits last three months.
-only digital copies of p60 and payslips, old work would not provide originals
-starting new work, we don't want to pay 6 months of me in this job to prove I can support her when I have earned enough over the last 12 months.
We have been apart now for over 3 months and want to just start our lives as soon as possible, I have been waiting to apply once I find work which I have now.
Please let me know if my worries are going to go against me in the application and If I have missed anything else out or any advice you have for me. Thank you.
