Have Stamp 4 - Must employer be Irish?

Post by yggdrasil » Mon May 07, 2018 2:50 pm

I have a Stamp 4 visa as a critical skills worker. I am looking at the possibility of working remotely for a European employer but don't want to jeopardize my status in Ireland. I know I can start my own business or "take up employment and [am] not required to hold an Employment Permit." But does "take up employment" cover a non-Irish employer?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hey, with a stamp 4 visa you are free to be self employed or work as an employee. You should pay for taxes in Ireland and be resident in Ireland. There are no other restrictions.

That is how I read it as well. Thanks for the confirmation.
