Investing in stocks , cfds etc

Hi
I am on Tier 2 general visa .
I was looking at investing in stocks , cfds etc through online trading platforms.
I understand I can have personal investments as long as I dont own more than 10% of sponsors shares .
So any profit I make will fall under capital gains tax . Am I right ?
I havent found any links on personal investments . Could someone please share links or share some information regarding this please.
