ILR application refused but Tier2 General work permit is valid till Feb'20. Can i work in UK till Feb'20?

Hi Guys

What will happen if ILR application gets refused in May'18 (due to whatever reasons- like absence >180 days in 12 months) but Tier2 General visa (work permit) valid till Feb'20. I believe I can work till Feb'20 in UK as both ILR & Tier 2 Visa are delinked?

You are allowed to work until the expiry date.

Thanks zimba88, so after Feb'20 my company can extend sponsorship/COS further doing RLMT etc.? In other words Tier 2 General visa guys can work without ILR as long as they have Company sponsorship??

You can hold tier 2 visa up to maximum six years.

You can work under Tier 2 for 6 years.. then you will need to take a year of cooling by leaving UK and then re-apply for another Tier 2.

BUT, as you mentioned above if you are concerned that your ILR could be refused due to 180days rule, you can always wait for those many extra days before applying.
