Unmarried partner proof 2 years co-habitation

Post by IrishandAus » Thu May 17, 2018 10:12 pm

Hi,

We have our meeting in Croydon for an unmarried partner visa in two weeks, 30th may. I have been reading through evey thread here to try and prep for it and realise how strict the 2 years rule is from the responses. I’m Irish, she’s Australian.

We have been together four years starting in Australia in 2014. We moved into my girlfriend’s dads house in March 2016. We opened a joint bank account and have a letter dated jun 26th for this. We have a tenancy agreement with her dad from March.

In July 2016 we moved to the uk and she is on a tier 5 visa. We have loads of proof of our relationship and lived together since moving here.

Will these two documents from our last couple of months in Australia be sufficient to prove our relationship akin to marriage?

Thanks!

I'm in a similar issue. Other than the tenancy agreement I wasn't really sure. I found this:

"Such evidence can include documents showing joint commitments, such as joint bank accountants, joint investments, joint tenancy agreement, joint mortgage account etc.

Letters of correspondence should also be included in the application. A letter of correspondence is a letter that contains the address that the applicant and UK partner have lived together in, such as household bills and doctors or dentist records.

If an application is lacking in letters of correspondences, applicants can obtain statements from a third party (letters from friends & family, doctors, dentists etc) specifically saying that they have been living together with their partner for more than 2 years." from third party weblink removed by moderator

Have you considered that it would also be helpful getting letters from other people saying that you and your Australian partner have lived together? Like a letter from your dad also?

My biggest issue is that it is so unclear what the required standard is - I mean how can people really prove that they are really in a relationship? I do feel a bit uncomfortable sending chat logs of our private convos...

Anyways, looking forward to hearing other input.
