EEA family permit doubts / lawyer recommendations

Post by RisingSun123 » Tue May 22, 2018 6:13 pm

Hi everyone,

my wife needs to fill up the "vaf5" form to apply for the EEA family permit and we might need help to clarify a question in the form, which is "How long do you intend to stay in the UK?"
Well, the idea is to stay and live together, but should we actually mention it, since the visa lasts 6 months? I don't mean to cheat or anything, what I mean is if she needs to come back to South America in 6 months she will do that and we'll apply again, but what if she finds a job in the meantime, or we want to extend the permit? Should we just put a date where she hypothetically will leave the Uk and then asking to extend it later?

Also, I feel like we are might have more and more questions regarding not only the Visa, but also what needs to be done after. So I was thinking perhaps I should get a lawyer? Do you think would be worth it? If so, how much should I expect to pay and who would you recommend?

Thank you very much and keep up with this great community!

Under the Board Ts&Cs, members are not permitted to post professional recommendations on the open forum .
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Fair enough, then I am happy to receive private messages regarding reccomendations :)

Besides, if anyone can also answer the other question, that would be great.

Thanks!

Well and EEA family permit is issued with a view to settling, if after 6 months your wife wishes to stay that is perfectly fine.

You wife can even say she plans to settle with you, provided you are exercising treaty rights in the UK, she will be fine.

After she has entered, a Residence card application can be made for her, provided of course you are a qualified person or an EEA national with a right of Permanent Residence, she will qualify.
