Emergency, BRP lost , stranded in France

Post by karmain » Thu May 24, 2018 7:15 pm

Hi all, I am an NRI stranded in France. I was misinformed by border force uk that I could still travel even when my BRP was reported lost with a replacement on the way . So I travelled and now I cannot get back :( I have contacted all the UK govt. offices and same robotic response We can’t help you , wait for it to arrive . I had applied for the replacement BRP 5 weeks ago and am worried I will be stuck here in France for two weeks !! People have advised to travel through train as the border force uk is in Calais and I might have a chance to plea to the immigration officers there. Has anyone done this before ? What did you do when you needed an emergency travel document as an Indian / non Eu to enter uk ?
Thank you

Hello , problem sorted . If there’s anybody in my situation don’t waste your time and money going round in circles . You will need to contact the Uk immigration Minister . Her name is Caroline Noakes . The email is public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk .
(It took them 1 day to response in my case . )Someone will then ring you . You will need to give your personal details and flight number ( you must book it in advance , late night flights are the cheapest !, I got Easy jet ) You don’t have to wait for papers or email . They will internally contact the Immigration Liason officer who will notify the airline to let you pass . In my case it was the fault of Border force Uk so I did not have to pay Visa fee . You will have to collect your boarding pass from the baggage check in of the airlines you’ve travelled with . They will give to you and you can fly :) Bon Voyage !!!
