Dependent Mother's naturalisation and social benefits

Post by treefriend » Wed May 30, 2018 11:53 am

Hey,
My dependent mother lives with me and holds Permanent Residence Card. She will be eligible for Naturalisation in Jan/2019.

She is immobilised by severe knees condition and see her GP on regular basis.

I was asked by our GP to apply for a Medical Card. However, once can only get a Medical card if person is receiving some sort of welfare benefits. After exploring few benefits options with Citizens Information, It appears that ,as she has not worked in the state, therefore she is only entitled to Disability Allowance.

Question
If we go ahead and apply for mentioned social benefit and subsequently a medial card for our mother, would this make her ineligible for Naturalisation?

has someone gone thru same route? Any experience sharing will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
