Candian citizen wanting to marry Tier 2 Visa Holder in the UK

Post by weldonman211 » Sat Jun 02, 2018 2:47 pm

Hi All

Forgive me in advance if this is posted in the wrong sub-forum, however, this is the best place I thought I could ask my question.

I am a Canadian citizen and is looking to get married to a non-EU citizen living in London on a Tier 2 General Visa. Post the marriage I intend to move to London as a dependent of a Tier 2 General Visa holder.

Is it possible for me to travel to UK (I do not need a visa to visit the UK given my Canadian passport) and get married there in a civil ceremony and then come back to Canada and apply for a dependent visa for the UK.

Are there any risks that my subsequent dependent visa application to UK may be put into question given that I did not tell immigration about my intent to marry in the UK when I traveled there using my Canadian passport?

Any information will be much appreciated.

Thanks..!

You are unable to marry in the UK while here as a visitor. Neither would you be able to submit an application for a Tier 2 Dependent visa while visiting.
