Switching from tier 4 to Tier 2 before completing dissertation

I had a slightly different question in a similar Tier 4 to Tier 2 context. Is it possible to apply for an unrestricted COS (high earner) Tier 2 visa by going out of the UK after submitting the dissertation but before the official end date of the programme mentioned in the Tier 4 student CAS if the employer does not ideally want to wait till the official end date of the programme? The university permits the dissertation to be submitted much before the end date noted on the Tier 4 CAS. Thanks.
