Apply british citizenship for new born

Post by Srjjay » Fri Jun 29, 2018 12:02 pm

Hi Everyone,

Hope someone has some guidance as I have been on the phoen to inland revenue, home office with some unclear answers.

I am a french citizen who came to uk in 2000, and worked for over 8-9 yrs then became self sufficient. Got married in 2014 to a non eeu and she arrived to uk end of 2014 ona family eea permit.

We got our first child, a baby girl last dec 2017.

At no point did we ever claim any benefits. Never applied for a uk resident card as it was automatic process.

Home office advised me to get 5 yrs of p60 and send with application. The issue is I can obtain the inland revenue tax info from 2001 to 2009 however it is not clear whether needs to show 5 yrs prior to child birth.

I would imagine having worked over 5 yrs would automatically trigger uk permanency.

The other route is to get a letter of confirmation of any benefits claims made ( none existing) and 5 yrs of private healthcare which unfortunately I have 4 yrs.

Appreciate if someone can give guidance on this matter.

Thanks

Jay

As long as you automatically acquired PR (probably since 2006) prior to the child's birth in the UK and have not been absent from the UK for longer than 2 years since acquiring PR, then you had PR when child was born. Then child is automatically British.
