Fiancé visa - previous visitor visa and English name

Post by ostrf » Mon Jul 16, 2018 10:22 am

Dear all,

My fiancé and I are looking to apply for a fiancé visa for me so we can get married later and then settle when I get over to the UK.

I have two concerns regarding my previous visitor visa and names appearing on my social media, could someone with experience please let me know if they would be big issues?

a) I have left the UK at the end of January 2018 after years of studying and one year of working (7 and a half years in total, a shame, I know). I then applied for a general tourist visitor visa again in April based on reasons of going on a holiday/visiting friends. I got the visa, did go and saw many friends during my one-month visit, but I never mentioned my boyfriend (who wasn't my fiancé at that point), nor have I actively denied anything, at entering the boarder. Would this have negative impact on my application now?

b) As I'm from China, I have always had an English name when I lived in the UK. So on all social media my name is a typical English first name followed by my actual last name on passport. When I use information from online (e.g. screenshots, chat history etc. that would only show my English name) to support the application, would I need to have an endorsement showing the two names are the same person, or explaining it in the cover letter would suffice?

Many thanks in advance!
