Hi, I have made an application for British citizenship on 29th May 2018, EU citizen, 5+1 year with Permanent residence card. I have since enrolled for the Biometric, and yesterday I have received a letter:
"I refer to your application...Please send all of the following original documents to this office by 06 August 2018.
1. Passport(s) or travel documents(s) to cover the period from 05/April 2014 to 05 April 2016.
If you are a national of a European Union member state or of Switzerland, you should provide alternative evidence of your residence in the UK to cover this period in addition to any passport or travel document you hold. The enclosed annex outlines the evidence you should provide.
There was a small list of alternative evidence of residence including the following categories:
1) Employed/unemployed
2) Self/employed or business persons
3) Student
4) Self-sufficient
5) Retired
I am very confused, why are they asking for this, when it is a requirement to do the permanent residency card first, which I have provided. Called the general helpline and they can not say much, only that the EU requirement and the UK requirement is different for residency.
I requested SA302 for one of the year in question and I have P60 for the other one, but it may not come on time as they said it can take up to 10 working days, and for the bank statement they said the same. Even though I can print it from online gateway/internet banking, it specifically mentioned it has to be original.
I have found some letters from GP/ hospital appointment, sale of car, Council tax bills, Child benefit letters, would that be too much to send, I do not want to overwhelm the caseworker.
I am very confused how should I proceed:
1. Wait till the 4th, and if nothing comes through the post I send a nice cover letter, explain it all, and send the copy, and just say that once I will have the original I will post it.
2. Send it straight away now, and say the same as above?
I am worried that they might reject the application for this.
Anyone any advice?
