Naturalisation approval letter with birthname instead of changed name

Post by anu249 » Sat Jul 28, 2018 1:14 am

Hi,

Hope experts here could advice me on what to do?

I have got my BC approval letter today.

I have changed my surname to husbands surname around a year ago and same is on my new passport and I made the application for bc with new surname.

However the approval letter has been issued with old surname and letter says - note on approval letter says I should apply for correction after ceremony.

Queries:
1. I want new surname on citizenship certificate - what's the quickest way to do it?
I read somewhere that this correction (thier mistake) would cost me £250 - I'm not happy with cost as I already paid 2600 for bc application + ndrs appointments+ passports. I'm out of money :(
2. how much would that cost
3. I made passport application in new name as well - will it be new surname here or old surname
4. How long is this process going to take as I'm planning to visit my parents soon.

Thanks for you advice in advance.
