Dear all,

I've spent two days reading all the discussions concerning to the EEA2 application and I still have some questions;

1. I'm meanwhile an internation student (non-EU) and my partner (German) is working here. As for applying the EEA2 residence card, what documents shall we enclose in our application? Our passports, the registration certificate and his pay slips? Is there anything alse I need to provide from my side? a school letter?

2. Does it matter if my student visa won't be expired untill September, 2009(still one year away)? Could it be a reason for rejection?

3. We both don't get the reason for applying the EEA1 since it doen't make any difference for an EU-national? or it does help for applying the EEA2?

4. We've planned to visit Europe this summer and later go back to my country in Asia. I'm afraid if the processing really takes up to 6 months then I will be caged here till I get my passport back. Does it help if I mention it in the application?

Are you married or not? If you are married, you should be fine with only a minimal set of documents. However, unmarried partners need to provide a lot of proof of cohabitation.

No. But most likely your student visa will be canceled when you get the Residence Card, since you are not supposed to have two valid visas at the same time.

It used to, but it is not clear whether it still does. I guess it does not hurt either, but there is not much point in doing so.

In my experience: no. It seems like nobody reads the application until it has sat on the shelf for at least 5 months. So if you want to travel, you will have to request your passport back.

Actually, we did only include a copy in the first place (because we are traveling frequently), and they did ask for the passport to be mailed once the application was being processed. So this is what I would recommend, although I cannot guarantee that it will work the same way.

Yes, we're just married and we are going to post the application on Thursday after my partner gets the letter from his employer.

So in my case, I just need to provide my passport and my partner's passport and pay slips (how many months?) and letter from the employer? We were just discussing if I need to provide my bank statements, school letter, ect.?

Why do that? It is not needed to process your application.
