Directive 2004/38/EC

Post by dimmaknight » Tue Jul 31, 2018 7:00 pm

Good evening all,

My wife from the Philippines and I, from the Netherlands are about to start our life together in Belgium.
She has not arrived yet so far, her visa application will take place on 28th this month. We are applying under the directive 2004/38/EC (on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members
to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States).. ''I am a national from the Netherlands, residing in Belgium)

We are kind of curious if it is (still) possible for us to move to the UK after my wife has received her residence card of Belgium. I am not really following the whole Brexit 'thing' so if any of you know more about where we at with this and our situation you will really help us out!

Thanks a lot.

Damian

That all depends on how slow the Belgian authorities are and how quickly a hard Brexit is firmly decided and implemented. On the current timetable, you can enter until the end of March 2019. If an exit agreement is concluded and resembles what has already been provisionally agreed, you can enter until the end of December 2020. Thereafter, you will require the permission of Her Majety's Government.

Thanks a lot for that info! Appreciate it.
