Continuous absence of 280 days in one year - naturalisation 5 year rule

Post by litja » Fri Aug 03, 2018 12:48 am

Hi,
I would appreciate your help with this confusion I am in.

I was away for nearly 10 months from April 2014 to Feb 2015, during which time I had conceived my 2nd child and during my pregnancy I found out I had a low lying placenta, because which I stayed back, but I returned to UK to give birth and my 2nd child is a British citizen as her dad and I hold an ILR from 2014 onwards.

1) My question is would this 10 months absence affect my continuous residency of 5 years required for naturalization. I haven't exceeded the 450 days rule and don't have an absence of more than 90 days in the last 12 months.

2) For the 10 months I was in India, what address should I show for the residence history? We had a UK address simultaneously.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you so much.

No affect. unlike ILR, no continuous residency required for naturalisation.

You don't need to count your time in India as residential address. You can still use the UK one.

Any help would be much appreciated.
