Tier 2 dependant visa

Hello

Applied for tier 2 dependant visa (my wife) on 25june. Submitted biometrics and sent documents on 26th june. It has been 6 weeks now and no visa yet.
I wish to travel but can't do anything. I called them and asked if I can change to same day service, they said no. I asked if i can have documents back they said no.
So basically we cant travel amd not sure how long it will take. On website it says 8 weeks. Does anyone has experience on how long it generally takes.

Recently is longer than normal, because of the backlog of Tier 2 visa.
