Re-entering as a tourist before visa expiry

I will be returning to the UK before my Tier 4 visa expires but will only be leaving after my visa expires as the events I'm attending in the UK are scheduled after the visa expiry date. I have already booked my return flight following attending the events. Is it possible to re-enter the UK as a visitor before my Tier 4 student visa expires? I can show my return flight booking as proof I don't intend to remain in the UK for long.

Not only possible, but the only option. You are clearly a very sensible person.

Even if you were leaving before your Tier 4 BRP expires, it would not be logical to try to enter the UK with your Tier 4 BRP for your now-ended studies. Entering as a visitor will in effect cancel your remaining Tier 4 leave, but that doesn't matter.
