Permission to remain case

Post by LionAfs » Mon Aug 13, 2018 3:53 pm

Hello Guys

My wife and I are in a Permission to Remain case since 2014, after requiring all information and documentation in the past few years they contacted us again in January this year 2018.

The Justice sent a letter to us asking for our criminal history which we sent, then in March they asked us to send our original passports and advised us saying that they were hoping to have a final decision in a our case in a near future and our passports was returned on the 10th of May.

We didn’t hear anything else from them since the 10th of May, according to what they usually do the passports are the last documentation they ask before giving the final decision.

My question is: should I ask my solicitor to contact them again just to check if they have an update in our case as it’s been 3 months since they returned our passports or we should wait some extra time?

thank you.

It sounds reasonable to contact them again and ask for an update in your case.

My Solicitor said 3 months is the shortest time they
require to wait cause it’s between 3 and 10 months to have an answer but with some of my friends in a similar case they got the final decision within 3 months since the passports were returned, and it’s frustrating cause we have been waiting for a long time and I think there is no harm asking for an update, now I’m married with three kids born here in Ireland.
