I have just had my application for a visa turned down on the basis that I have not provided proof I can speak English.
I applied for my visa through Teleperformance in Istanbul, the agency who handles visa applications for the British Consulate in Turkey. Having filed the online appication on 24/11/2017 I was given a face to face appointment at the Teleperformance office in Istanbul on 29/11/2017.
The visa was to ‘exercise access rights to a child living in the UK’. My understanding is that it is the 'other non-settlement’ visa.
The woman employee of Teleperfomance who invited me to different type of desk to process my application for my visa. She went through the application page by page, asking me for documents that proved who was sponsoring me, my financial status etcetera, which I provided. She scanned them with different color papers titled like financial documents sponsor documents. At no point did she ask me for documents to establish that I could speak English. Had she done so, I would have been entitled to stop the interview and return with the necessary documents at a future date for no extra charge. Also I had right to withdraw my application.
Given that it was the fault of the authorised agency, Teleperformance, that I was not asked about my English in the first place.
Can I appeal at this situation ?
Thanks
