2 utility bills for Naturalisation

Post by NidaSohail » Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:10 am

Hi,
I applied on irish spouse provided all necessary documents but now they need 2 more utility bills as a residency evidence of 2013-2015 which i dont have, all i have bank statements or hardly 1 bill of 2015. (What should i do?)
Furtherly they need doctor’s letter for showing each year I visit! (Why they need this letter?)
And I stayed outside ireland more than 6 weeks every year and stated reasons and completed that time will it effect my application?
I am really worried how to show my bill evidence. Please guide me your best
Thanks in advance

Hi
it is normal they always ask to everybody who applied specially as spouse of Irish because they need to make sure the person who applied for citizenship was present in the state in that period if you don t have bills or GP just write the letter and explain them what you have or you can ask the letter from your landlord or employer if you are working
are you on social benefit or you are working ?
thanks

because you are not working neither getting social benefits cause of this they need to make sure that period you was in the state thats why they asked you for GP letter aswel if you have GP ask him to give you letter that you was registered with the GP. i hope there is more senior people on this form they could give you good advice

The requirement is 6 weeks a year, not every trip. This is especially the case for the final year prior to submitting the application - final year must have unbroken residency. You have 13 weeks of break in total for your final year, which is more than double the requirement. You will need *very* good reasons.

how it was double ? As i said sec time i was out for 5 weeks and 6 days so one day less than 6 weeks. ( do i have to write it down as they are only looking for more than 6 weeks) yes in my first time i stayed two more days (6 weeks and 2 days ). You reckon i should only mention my sec visit which clearly shows that i spend extra days on my passport(stamps). Does proof of address really matter if we don't have any utilities bills?

If you signed for revenue (and you had to) - you can get tax amend for each year. That is valid proof of residency.
As for last year - it's literally last year before you applied, at least from what I understood.
So if you are applying today - you need to check from 21st of January 2018 until today and you have to have 42 or less days of holidays.

Did you read my comment? It is 6 weeks per year, not per trip. If you apply on 1st April 2019, then your total days abroad from 2nd April 2018 to 1st April 2019 need to be less than 6 weeks. It doesn’t matter if you have had 1 trip or 10 trips. They only care about your total days abroad in this period.

A new policy which is disqualifying people from Irish citizenship even if they have been resident in Ireland for much of their lives is unlawful and possibly unconstitutional, lawyers have said.

The “six-week rule” – the maximum amount of time a person may spend outside the country in the year prior to a citizenship application – has been increasingly identified as the reason for refusal of citizenship applications in recent months, legal sources say.

It was introduced by the Department of Justice about two months after the UK voted to leave the European Union in June 2016.

A High Court challenge to the policy is believed to be likely.

While the exact number of those who have been refused citizenship as a result of the policy is unclear, specialist immigration lawyers say they have noticed an increase in such decisions in the last three to six months, following a deliberative process on applications that can take up to a year. More refusals based on the six-week rule are anticipated.

SO IF YOU WERE OUT OF IRELAND IN TOTAL MORE THAN 6 WEEKS I WOULD NOT BOTHER EVEN TO APPLY FOR THE IRISH CITIZENSHIP AS I THINK YOUR APPLICATION WOULD BE DENIED.

Does this apply if your job literally involves frequent travel at least once a month? Each trip is for a week

Yes. You can submit supporting letter to explain the situation, and it helped a few people out here before. However INIS will have the final say on whether they want to accept your explanation.

Awesome. Thank you. I would never qualify if they don't accept. My job involves frequent travel so its either I quit my job or not become a citizen till I change projects.

Got you. So what now ? should i apply for my citizenship application if not so will you suggest me for how long i have to wait. And if i apply with genuine reasons, will this help me out?
Cheers.

If you can, wait until you have less than 6 weeks absence in the last 365 days. Otherwise you would need a sincere explanation. There are more and more rejections due to this reason now.

here are the details of my two holidays per Calendar year
Came to ireland Jan 2016 Spouse of an irish
First holiday started from : 1st March to 20th April 2018 ( 7 Wks )
Second Holidays Stared from : 1st Nov to 11th December 2018 ( 5 weeks and 5 days )
As I am eligible for citizenship already in jan 2019.
It means i have to wait till 21st april to deduct my 7 weeks holidays and then explain my 5week 5 days holiday in separate sheet why i was out of the country?
Thanks Again.

If you wait till 21st April 2019, and you have less than 42 days of absence in total between 22nd April 2018 and 21st April 2019, then yes you can apply and you do not need to explain your 5 weeks 5 days holiday.
