New born kid and dependant visa

Post by pranamcs » Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:14 pm

Hello

I am on a tier 2 general visa. My wife and my kid are on a dependant visa.

We are expecting our second kid soon.

My understanding is I need to apply for a dependant visa for the new born kid and pay the NHS fee. Am I correct ?

Before applying for a dependant visa, I need a passport for the new kid. Am I correct ?

Is there a deadline before which the new kid needs to be added as a dependant ?

Regards
Pranam

When my son was born and we needed to travel home with him, we had to get a Tier 2 dependant visa for him. We were able to apply without a passport (which was helpful because we couldn't get his passport issued in the UK but our embassy issued us a Travel Document which we used to arrive at our home country). All we sent was his birth certificate and his BRP came a few weeks later.

My understanding at the time, was that if we weren't leaving the UK, then we wouldn't have needed a BRP for him but I could be wrong

I am in same situation as you. Would you advise me to apply for BRP without passport?
I have obtained UK birth certificate for my child.
Also do we still need to show maintenance funds?

I am sorry, I never saw this notification.

In case this helps anyone -> Yes, you can apply without a passport, I did not need to show any maintenance funds, but this might be because I wasn't required to do son on my Tier 2 visa anyway.
