Has anyone travelled back without BRP and then have a friend/family send it to you through post?

Post by farazk86 » Mon Aug 20, 2018 3:33 pm

I received my decision letter today (approved) and with that also got my passport back. The BRP will be sent to me within 7-10 working days. Now the problem is that I have to travel on the 23rd of August.

I applied for priority postal on the 1st of August. Priority postals are decided within 10 working days so I left enough cushion for myself when making travel arrangements. I bought tickets for this Thursday (23rd August). This was 16 working days from the date of my application, so I considered myself safe.

Now as things are, I have received my passport back today. And my application was approved.

I have been travelling from UK for over 8 years and not once has my BRP been checked when leaving the country. It is only needed when I want to re enter UK.

If I do not receive my BRP by 22nd, I plan on leaving and have my friend receive the BRP in my stead (I will leave my driving license with him as proof of identity) and then he can post my BRP to me through registered mail.

Has anyone recently experienced this? Would I have any problems leaving UK? or having BRP delivered through post?

Thank you

Sometimes BRP are checked at the airport in the UK while leaving the country, once I was asked about it.
Also not sure if your BRP will be handed over to your friend.

Advice is to get the BRP and then go for the holiday.
Under urgent exceptional circumstances carry your application and approval originals with you.
