Change surname on BRP

Hi everyone,

My wife is currently awaiting for her FLR (FP) visa from Home Office. We were not officially married when she applied for a visa in June 2018. We are planning to get her FLR (M) visa as soon as she receives her current FLR (FP) visa.

We are getting married next week and she wants to take my surname.

I am right to assume the correct procedure would be:

1. Receive her FLR (FP) visa first;

2. Change her surname in her Russian passport first (she's Russian);

3. Apply for a new FLR (M) visa under new surname and specify the previous surname in the application form.

Does this sound right or should we first apply for new FLR (M) without changing her surname in her Russian passport?
