How to prove residence when in Uni?

I'm a bit stumped with this requirement about residency.

"Proof of living in the UK for xxx
If you are an Non-EEA National, you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the past 5 years (3 years if you are married to, or the partner of, a British citizen).

If you do not have your passport, or it was not stamped when you entered the UK, you need to include letters (for example, from your employer or government department) as proof.

Bank statements or household bills are not suitable proof you have been living in the UK."

First is the requirement to prove residency on exactly ONE day 3 years on the date I apply for naturalisation? ie I'm applying on 24 Sept 2018 so

1) Does that mean I need to provide evidence that I was in the UK on 24 Sept 2015 only OR since 24 Sept 2015?

2) How am I supposed to prove this residency with Government documents when I was in full time university education? is there a list of documents Home Office will consider?

You should show that you were in the UK at the start of your qualifying period for naturalisation.

“For example” lists examples. It implies they should consider any documents that support your assertions that you were present in the UK.

Confirmation from your university or landlord that you resided in one of their properties?

A difficulty is that without exit stamps in the passports and limited exit checks, no one can easily tell, without alternative evidence, if the holder was present or absent, in or from the UK respectively, during a particular period.
