Visit visa extension and immigration officer stamp

Post by Lavania » Tue Sep 04, 2018 11:11 am

Hi all,

My husband came to Ireland for an interview on highly skilled interview authorisation basis. He got the job and applied for the work permit. The work permit process took longer than usual and his visa was expiring. So we applied for a visitor extension and we didn't get any reply on time as this was redirected from Dublin to Tipperary. We went to various immigration offices and called all the offices and finally we were directed to Mallow immigration office since our house address falls into that office. The immigration officer understood the situation and extended his visa and asked him to come and change the stamp once the work permit is processed.

When the DBEI took his application to process, they informed him that the highly skilled job interview authorisation stamp was wrong. At the same time, the office in Tipperary replied to the extension request saying "it can't be extended and he should leave the country. But he has a stamp given by the regional immigration officer. We are planning to go to Dublin office and request for the right stamp. Please note that my husband has asked for the highly skilled job interview authorisation stamp. He had shown the immigration office the web page in INIS. She wasn't aware of the scheme much and put a wrong stamp and we were anyways not aware of the differences in stamps.

I want to ask will it be a problem if he stays in Ireland and try to get the stamp fixed since the immigration officer has given extension but the Tipperary office has sent a refusal( We applied few weeks before the expiry and we got the reply only 2 weeks after the expiry of the 1st stamp)

I appreciate any help.

Thanks all.
